Let’s Get You Boudoir-Ready, Babe: Real Tips Before Your Shoot
So, you’ve booked your boudoir session (EEEK!), and now you’re probably wondering… “What the heck do I do to get ready?!”
First of all, deep breath. You’re already doing the most important thing: showing up for yourself. But if you’re anything like me, you want to make the absolute most of this experience—and I gotchu. Here’s my list of real, unfiltered tips to help you feel amazing, avoid any last-minute stress, and walk into Honey Boudoir ready to slay.
Speaking of posing, start stretching lightly every day.
Don’t skip this part—I beg you. I always regret not stretching before my own shoots. Even I start to get sore from all the arching, twisting, and model-level posing we’ll be doing (and I’m not even the one doing the heavy lifting—YOU are!). Take 10 minutes a day after booking and do some light stretches. Your back and hips will thank you the next day when you’re not hobbling to the Tylenol bottle.
Start shopping now!
Finding what to wear stresses everybody out. While you’ll have full access to my Client Closet (sizes XS-5X and full of goodies), I always suggest bringing 1-2 outfits you already own and love—just in case nothing in the closet speaks to you.
A few favs? I love Playful Promises for sexy, inclusive pieces that fit like a dream. Try a garter belt, a bodysuit, or something lacy that makes you feel like the main character. Confidence is the best outfit, babe—but lingerie helps.
Guzzle. That. H2O. Like now.
You already know I’m gonna say it, but drink your damn water. Not only will it make your skin glow, help your makeup apply better, and flush out toxins—but it also keeps you from feeling sluggish on session day. Hydrated = hot. Period.
Skip the tanning bed and especially the spray tan.
Please don’t fight me on this. Your natural skin is STUNNING. Spray tans can mess with editing and give you a weird undertone (hello, Oompa Loompa vibes). Plus, I’ve invested in sets and bedding that I want to keep fresh, not stained with self-tanner.
If you’ve got tan lines, no biggie! Come in as you are, and let me work the magic.
Check out my Instagram for Inspo!
Seriously, go screenshot happy. I LOVE seeing your inspo photos because they help me understand your vibe. Even if they’re not my work, I’ll use them to tailor your session to YOU. We’ll make it your own, custom-pose it, and turn your inspo into real-life fire!
Book that wax, mani/pedi, or hair appointment early.
If you’re planning on waxing or getting your nails done—do it a few days before your session, not the night before. Give your skin time to calm down so there’s no irritation. Also, if chipped nail polish bugs you in photos, treat yourself to a fresh mani. (But if you don’t care—own that, too!)
Don’t try anything new the week of.
No new skincare. No last-minute facials. No experimenting with new products. We don’t want your skin throwing a tantrum the day before your big moment. Stick with what works and let your skin chill.
Eat the morning of!
Please don’t skip breakfast. You need energy, babe! Go for something light and balanced—like fruit and protein—not a giant fast-food breakfast that might leave you bloated or sluggish. You’ll feel so much better throughout the session.
Plan a hype playlist.
Music changes the game. Make a little playlist of songs that make you feel sexy, powerful, and unstoppable. We’ll already have the studio vibing—but adding your personal anthem to the mix? Chef’s kiss.
Trust the process (and yourself).
You’re going to have nerves—everyone does. But the moment you step in front of that camera, something clicks. You’ll surprise yourself. Just lean in, let go, and trust that this is your time to shine. I got you every step of the way.
